The Hello World board has four primary components: Battery (Bat.) Push Button Switch(SW) Resistor LED The circuit works by pushing the button which completes the connection.  Electricity flows from the battery, through the LED, through the resistor, through the switch, and back to the battery. Hello World Schematic LEDs have a Forward Voltage which is the amount of voltage drop or loss that occurs through the LED when operating at the nominal current load.  As current goes up, so does the Forward Voltage.  As current flow goes down, so does the Forward Voltage.  The graph below shows the relationship between...

How to Assemble: Hello World Circuit Board

  To assembly the Hello World circuit board, perform the following: Solder the resistor in place, clip the excess leads. Solder the push button in place. Solder the LED in place, ensure the minus terminal of the LED is connected to the minus terminal of the battery (See schematic if you are unsure).  The LED will not turn on if it is put in backwards.  Clip the leads before inserting the LED into the board.
